Jason Donovan

The Brighton Centre | 23rd March 2016

JASON DONOVAN

Ten Good Reasons + Greatest Hits

By popular demand, star of stage and screen, Jason Donovan is returning to his roots for a solo tour of his debut 5 X Platinum, 1989 album ‘Ten Good Reasonsand  ‘Greatest Hits’.

Ten Good Reasons’ became the biggest selling album of 1989 and remains a massive fan favourite with two solo No.1 singlesToo Many Broken Hearts and Sealed with a Kiss. It also featured a duet with Kylie Minogue, Especially for You, which reached No.1.

Jason will play 20 dates on a UK-wide tour.  Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday 15th May at 10am.

The tour marks a huge step for the 80s heart throb: this is the first time he toured as a solo artist for six years and the first time he has ever toured the ‘Ten Good Reasons’ album .

Pop star, actor and a musical lead for several decades now, eighties icon Jason Donovan shot to superstardom as the blue-eyed, blonde-haired heartthrob in the Aussie soap Neighbours. In the late 1980s, the UK was in the throes of a serious case of Neighbours fever. The show was watched by 20 million viewers and Jason Donovan became one of the world’s teenage sweethearts alongside fellow Neighbour’s star Kylie Minogue.

Neighbours celebrated 30 years in production this year. Jason Donovan appeared alongside Kylie in a special edition Neighbours 30th: The Stars Reunite, as cast members past and present looked back on the years of Ramsay Street. Jason also became an honorary member of EastEnders when the soap’s cast paid tribute to the antipodean show’s 30th anniversary.

As soap’s golden boy, the offers rolled in. Described by the Guinness Book Of Hit Singles as “the top teen idol of the late 1980s”, Jason Donovan was signed to the Stock Aitken Waterman production team and Pete Waterman’s label PWL in the wake of the huge success of fellow “Neighbours” star Kylie Minogue. Jason’s pop career took off when his debut single Nothing Can Divide us hit No.5 in the UK in 1988. His follow-up 1988 duet with Kylie, Especially For You, topped the UK charts and was the first of four No. 1 singles for Donovan.

Jason and Kylie’s classic duet has now sold over a million copies. Especially For You is only the 154th single to join the exclusive million sellers’ club. Especially For You was Jason Donovan’s first Number 1 – he’d have three more – so it’s only fitting it should be his first million-seller too!

In 1989, PWL boss Pete Waterman took Jason on his Hitman Roadshow  and says ‘Jasonmania’ became a real phenomenon. Waterman says the singer was PWL’s biggest star and the fans reaction was like nothing he’d seen before or since.

Talking about re-living Ten Good Reasonsand playing his Greatest Hits to an audience Jason commented;

“You know, I’ve never played some of these songs live ever before!  Music has a wonderful opportunity to put you in a time and place, an emotional connection that no other creative medium can.  Ten Good Reasons was a defining moment for me and my fans.  It was the perfect marriage between music and personality.  I was 21 at the time … Wow !

The opportunity to work with Stock Aitken and Waterman, who were the hottest producers at the time was a dream come true for me. I was a big fan of Rick Astleys album and absolutely loved Never Gonna Give You Up and couldn’t believe my luck when working with SAW became a reality. The melodies, the production, the whole package was like a first class ride.

Hearing the completed versions of Too Many Broken Hearts and Especially For You in particular, were moments in my professional life that I will never forget, the door was wide open and I was at the centre of this incredible moment in time.  You just knew that something magical was happening.  It was very exciting.  Only when I realise now that these are distant memories, do I appreciate how lucky I was.  The great thing about this tour is, I can re-live those feelings and share it with the fans who were there with me.  They will have their own stories of firsts and growing up too.”

Too Many Broken Hearts would stay at the top for two weeks and was the first of four solo No. 1s for Jason. Jason commented;

“Too Many Broken Hearts changed my life. To this very day every time I play that song live the entire audience goes nuts!  It’s classic SAW but sincerely written with me in mind. I think it’s my signature tune.  Im sure for many people it signifies that emotional connection with a particular time in their lives.  It does for me!”

The tour will see Jason play Ten Good Reasons in it’s entirety  alongside some greatest hits.

Jason said;

“One of my favourite albums of all time was Peter Gabriels So.  When I saw ads recently for a So album tour, I thought what a good idea!  The opportunity to play an album from top to bottom in its true authenticity while giving the fans exactly what they want.   I plan to include some tracks in the second half from periods other than 1989, but the audience will know all the songs.  All in all a great night I hope!

A star of stage and screen, and having performed on the musical theatre stage across the globe, Jason Donovan has appeared in hit musicals in leading shows from The Rocky Horror Show, to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Sweeney Todd, Festen, Joseph, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds, the Here and Now Tour, The Sound of Music, Annie Get Your Gun. Jason also presents a radio show on Heart every Sunday, consistently releases albums and has played the celebrity game in I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! and Strictly Come Dancing. Jason’s schedule is non-stop and he is currently touring the UK in the highly acclaimed play The King’s Speech.

Performance and passion is at the heart of everything Jason does.

www.little-mix.com

The world’s biggest girl group are back at last! Little Mix have announced a major UK and Ireland arena tour for March 2016.

The tour which begins Sunday 13th March in Cardiff includes a date The O2, London and culminates at Belfast Odyssey Arena on Thursday 31st March.

Speaking of their previous sell out show at The O2, Leigh-Anne explains “to have our fans singing songs, that we’d helped write, back to us, was a dreams-come-true moment.”

The news comes hot on the heels of Little Mix’s new worldwide smash hit single ‘Black Magic’, a spellbinding and irresistible pop explosion with a soaring chorus and addictive call-and-response middle eight. With state-of-the-art pop production from Norwegian hotshots Electric, the track stormed straight to No.1 on the Official Chart in the UK.

‘Black Magic’ is the first single from their eagerly anticipated third album ‘Get Weird’ due for global release Friday 6th November.

Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall became Little Mix in 2011. They have sold over 7 million records, had two UK No.1 singles and two platinum albums ‘DNA’ and ‘Salute’. As well as a successful arena tour they have been the recipients of both a Cosmo Ultimate Woman Award and a Glamour Women Of The Year Award. With over half a billion YouTube and Vevo views worldwide, they’ve also successfully become one of Britain’s greatest exports with massive tours in the US, Australia and Japan – breaking the Spice Girls’ long-held record of highest debut US chart position for a UK girl group in the process.

COLLABRO

THE ‘ACT TWO’ TOUR – 2016

WWW.COLLABROGLOBAL.COM

After winning Britain’s Got Talent, Collabro have announced dates for their second nationwide tour.

The announcement of their 2016 ‘Act Two’ tour tops off an astounding year for the band which has seen them go truly global. The band will tour the length and breadth of the country playing venues including London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall.

This announcement coincides with the release of their second album ‘Act Two’ on 1st June which comes less than a year after their debut album ‘Stars’ stormed to the top of the charts. The tour will once again showcase their incredible vocal talent which wowed the judges and audience alike to see them crowned Britain’s Got Talent winners in 2014. Demand for the band since the show has led to appearances all across Europe and Asia, while they have recently signed to Sony Masterworks in the USA, releasing their first US album.

‘Act Two’ sees the band expand their musical horizons, recording some of the greatest songs that have influenced them as a band. The record includes some surprising re-interpretations of recent pop music’s finest moments such as Kodaline’s smash ‘All I Want,’ Christina Perri’s ‘A Thousand Years’ and ‘I Won’t Give Up’ by Jason Mraz. There’s also a touching rendition of The Rembrandts’ world-famous ‘I’ll Be There For You,’ which was debuted on the boys’ tour at the start of this year.

From the world of film and musical theatre the boys take on the likes of ‘Music Of The Night’ (which won a Facebook fans’ poll of songs for the band to perform), ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ from Les Miserables and ‘The Circle of Life’ from ‘The Lion King.’

Michael Auger, Richard Hadfield, Jamie Lambert, Matt Pagan and Thomas Redgrave only became Collabro at the start of 2014 and it’s been a steady stream of incredible moments since then. Following their runaway Britain’s Got Talent victory last summer, Collabro have already released a No.1 Gold certified album and special edition follow up, performed at the Royal Variety Show for Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, and written and released ‘Our Story’, their first band memoir.
