Open Auditions
for Copthorne Players production of
“Billy Liar”
by Keith Waterhouse and Willis Hall
Copthorne Village Hall Oct 29th to 31st (Studio setting).
The Studio, Horsham Capitol Nov 6th and 7th.
“BILLY LIAR” has great opportunities for young people (16 +) with terrific roles for Billy’s parents and grandmother. Billy, aged 20, lives in his own imagined world – a recent critic’s review of the play pointed out “he’s no different from the average teenage user of social media.” Another said “I laughed a lot at Billy Liar but was also genuinely moved by the production. “
Roles – Billy has three girlfriends, two of whom are his fiancées; the ‘nice girl’ Barbara, the loud-mouthed Rita, and soft natured former girlfriend Liz. Billy escapes from reality through daydreams and enjoys in- jokes and tomfoolery with his friend Arthur. Billy’s dad offers an overbearing but sharp comedy role. His mother soldiers on looking after her mother while ignoring the constant swearing of her overbearing husband.
