IT’S JEKYLL TO A JAZZ BEAT…
The Cockpit presents a Blue Orange Theatre production
Jekyll and Hyde
by Eric Gracey based on the novel by Robert Louis Stephenson
Directed by Mark Webster
London’s streets are awash with fear. A dark and sinister figure prowls through the fog…. but what is the link between this mysterious man and the respectable Dr Jekyll?
Set in a 1930s jazz club with live pianist and a backdrop of sultry jazz standards including “Putting On The Ritz” and “I Get A Out Of Kick You, Birmingham-based The Blue Orange Theatre transfer a new version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Jekyll and Hyde, a classic tale of addiction, murder, sex, violence and desire to The Cockpit for a 4-week season from Wednesday 13 January.
Having produced over 40 shows in over 30 venues in the last 4 years alone, The Blue Orange Theatre’s unique style of quick-paced, high energy theatre is rapidly making a name for itself across the UK.
Focusing on new writing and the retelling of classic tales, The Blue Orange Theatre has created a style which beautifully counterpoints a stylised directorial approach with naturalistic honest dialogue.
