It Walks Around The House At Night
Minerva Theatre, Chichester
Until Sat 7th February 2026
A ghost story by Tim Foley
Directed by Neil Bettles
Now showing in Chichester’s Minerva Theatre and subsequently touring for the next two months, is a new play It Walks Around the House at Night by award-winning writer Tim Foley. Previously we were treated to his excellent lyrical and reflective play Driftwood which was much enjoyed and this latest work has been eagerly anticipated.
ThickSkin’s immersive approach, and who are well known for their bold and fearless storytelling, heightens the suspense creating a growing sense of unease which is generously peppered with loud noises and jump scares. Minimal staging is used to frame this tale of out-of-work actor Joe being approached by an attractive man and asked to play a ghost for a week for which he will be richly rewarded. However, after casually dismissing any nervous qualms, Joe’s unusual opportunity begins to turn chillingly real….!
Joe is played by George Naylor who commands the stage at once and gives an outstanding performance, fully inhabiting the likeable character and conveying a spectrum of emotions as well as showing boundless energy throughout the full 90 minutes. He is silently, but ably supported by Oliver Baines who shows incredible speed, agile dancing and seamless movements.
This brave and extraordinary piece of work showcases the remarkable talent of the engaging George Naylor and earns a 5* rating for such an unforgettable spooky story.
