SHOWSTOPPER! THE IMPROVISED MUSICAL WINS OLIVIER AWARD IN THE BEST ENTERTAINMENT & FAMILY CATEGORY
More details on Showstopper! and ticket information
Showstopper! The Improvised Musical has won one of the most prestigious awards in the West End. Last night the show that has wowed audiences and critics alike in the first ever season for an improvised musical in the West End, won the best entertainment and family category at the Olivier Awards. Sir Lenny Henry presented the award for the show’s three-month London run last autumn.
The Showstoppers team said they are ‘absolutely delighted and thrilled’ with the award, and that they were ‘flying the flag for improv.’
“The Showstoppers made Olivier history when their show was the first improvised production to be nominated in forty years of the Awards. And they went one better by winning! It has been a pleasure to watch the show grow from its fringe routes over the seven years that I have been working with the team, and we have exciting plans afoot for it to spread its wings around the world in the years to come.” James Seabright lead producer.
Showstopper! The Improvised Musical – which also won best character, improv or sketch act at last month’s Chortle Awards – continues to run at the Lyric Theatre Shaftesbury Avenue with shows every fortnight.
Showstopper! was created by Adam Meggido and Dylan Emery. Duncan Walsh Atkins is Musical Director, with design by Simon Scullion, lighting by Tim Mascall and sound by Tom Lishman.
The cast includes Ruth Bratt, Justin Brett, Dylan Emery, Pippa Evans, Susan Harrison, Sean McCann, Adam Meggido, Philip Pellew, Andrew Pugsley, Oliver Senton, Lucy Trodd, and Sarah-Louise Young, with seven cast members appearing per performance plus a live on-stage band.
Showstopper! The Improvised Musical is presented by James Seabright, Julie Clare, Julius Green, Keith Strachan, Irving Rappaport and Ray Cooney by arrangement with Suzanna Rosenthal for Showstopper Productions.
