Hands Up – I admit, I wasn’t expecting to be blown away by ‘Wisdom of a Fool’, a one-man play about the life of Norman Wisdom staged at the Capitol in Horsham, last September.
As it is – Wisdom of a Fool play sits firmly in my Top Ten theatre trips of 2015 and was one of my only 5 star reviews of the year. Jack Lane’s portrayal of one of Britain’s best loved comedians was beautifully executed and had the packed house at the Capitol rolling around with laughter one minute and with a lump in their throat the next, as he takes us through Wisdom’s career and private life.

Jack is now taking his play on it’s first tour to Guildford, Leicester and Lowestoft with further dates to be announced.

“I am over the moon to be taking Wisdom of a Fool on tour. I was overwhelmed with the reaction back in September, I received letters and emails from people expressing their love for not just the show, but for their memories of Norman which was hugely gratifying.It’s been a labour of love for me and my wonderful team. A tour gives me the opportunity to continue honing and polishing my performance but above all, a chance to tell Norman’s incredible story to a wider audience. We kick off the tour at Guildford’s wonderful Yvonne Arnaud Theatre on February 5th & 6th then onto Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival which is already nearing a sell out.”
