That’ll be the Day

That’ll Be The Day returns to Worthing with their 30th Anniversary Special.

For years That’ll Be The Day has been raising money for charity as part of their tour, and this year they will continue to raise funds for Make-A-Wish® UK. In their first 12 months of collecting post-show donations, they raised over £70,000 and this figure only continues to grow.

That’ll Be The Day is all about recreating nostalgia with live entertainment, reflecting the music and tone of an era that changed the course of music history and youth culture forever. Incredibly the show is now in its 30th year of touring, and the celebration party is coming to Worthing Theatres!

Having delighted audiences throughout the UK for over three decades, That’ll Be The Day is back on the road entertaining audiences with classic gold hits from the 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s and with more side-splitting comedy!

The variety of songs spans Elvis’s Blue Suede Shoes, Billy Fury’s Halfway to Paradise, Sonny and Cher’s I Got You Babe, Fleetwood Mac’s Don’t Stop, The Contours’ Do You Love Me and many others which create an ever-changing collection of nostalgic hits.

Interspersing the hits are comedy sketches including Trevor Payne’s notorious Mick Jagger impressions and Gary Anderson’s ability to mimic over 27 voices from Elvis and Willie Nelson to Tommy Cooper.  The pair also combine their comic talents to create spoofs of great double-acts such as Laurel and Hardy, Bill and Ben, Batman and Robin and The Blues Brothers.

Originally established on the cabaret circuit in the late 1980’s, That’ll Be The Day began playing regional theatres in the early 1990’s. Now it performs over 200 shows a year to capacity audiences across the UK. Trevor Payne (who first created the show) still directs, produces and stars in the production today. Trevor rewrites all the material for the show for each year, and over six months is taken in planning and preparation.

That’ll Be The Day is renowned for its work with worthy causes, particularly Childline, Help For Heroes and more recently Make-A-Wish® UK. This is a very special charity with a single purpose – to grant magical wishes to children and young people aged 3-17 fighting life-threatening conditions. Wishes can range from being a princess for the day, meeting a hero or going on a once in a life-time holiday. There are currently 20,000 children and young people in the UK fighting a life-threatening condition, and Make-A-Wish believes every one of them deserves to experience the magic of a Make-A-Wish wish!

“We are truly delighted to be supporting Make-A-Wish. The tireless work they do with children across the UK is inspirational and we look forward to a long and fruitful association with this amazing charity” – Trevor Payne
